Bahamas Medical Center: Telemedicine Program

Telemedicine ProgramFor our international patients, who will require follow-up consultations and for our local outer island patients, who may be unable to visit our facility for appointments, Bahamas Medical Center is proud to offer the latest in Telemedicine technology to care for our patients at home or abroad. Wherever you may be…you’ll never be far from the doctors and staff at the Bahamas Medical Center.

What is Telemedicine?

Telemedicine is when our health professionals communicate and address health issues with patients at remote locations via electronic communications. Telemedicine, also known as “telehealth”, includes videoconferencing, transmission of still images, online patient portals, remote monitoring of vital signs, continuing medical education and nursing call centers.

How Does Telemedicine Work?

Remotely located patients may “see” a medical specialist over a live video transmission or may send video or images for view by a physician at a later time. Telemedicine can be used for diagnosis, treatment planning and patient surgical or after-care follow-ups.
Remote patient monitoring uses devices to remotely collect and send data to a monitoring station for interpretation. Telehealth includes monitoring specific vital signs, such as blood glucose or heart ECG or a variety of indicators for homebound patients. Such services can be used to supplement the use of visiting nurses.

With Telemedicine…no matter where you are, you can be in touch with your attentive doctors and staff at the Bahamas Medical Center.
