About Dr. Hanna:

Dr. Hanna’s goal is to improve the quality of life for each of his patients, by reducing the risk factors related to obesity. Though he is a specialist in Laparoscopic Lap-Band, Gastric Bypass, and Gastric Sleeve surgery (among others), he only recommends surgery in cases where it is absolutely needed and other avenues of treatment have not been successful.

Prior to joining the team at Bahamas Medical Center, Dr. Hanna, a Board Certified General Surgeon, had been practicing medicine in Las Vegas, Nevada where a patient once described him as “…a professional at what he does and once you’re his patient, you will always be his patient.” With Dr. Hanna you will be in the hands of a true professional and Bahamas Medical Center is privileged to have such a surgeon.

Hobbies & Interests:

When Dr. Hanna isn’t busy with his practice, he enjoys painting, music, traveling and scuba diving.

Interesting Fact:

Dr. Hanna is the editor-in-chief of the Las Vegas Bariatric Health & Wellness Magazine.


Medical School:

Graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1991 from Barry University, Miami Florida, with a B.S. in Biology.

Graduate School:

Dr. Hanna completed his post-graduate training in General Surgery and his surgical residency at Howard University College of Medicine. He went on to complete his advanced laparoscopic training at The George Washington University Medical Center.

Dr. Hanna is Board Certified in General Surgery having obtained his board recertification from the American Board of Surgery in December 2009; He also has medical licenses in Nevada and The Bahamas.

Dr. Hanna is the President and the owner of B A Hanna MD Prof Corp, in Las Vegas. Dr. Hanna is a current member of the American College of Surgeons, American Medical Association, National Medical Association; as well as being a member of The ASMBS (American Society of Metabolic Bariatric Surgeons) and Gamma Sigma Epsilon Chemistry Honor Society.
